Inhabitations and Classifications
Inhabitations are the main item as far as the game goes. Inhabitations provide wealth, trade goods, population, determine many aspects of your kingdom, serve as military bases... they are what makes up your kingdom. The more that you control, it is a safe bet that the stronger you
will be. There are three main types of inhabitations: villages, towns, and cities, from smallest to largest.
Villages - population from 200 to 500; at most 1 trade good produced; unfortified (but can have a garrison or fortress in the area); base value of .5k gold monthly.
Towns - population from 400 to 2000; 1 or perhaps 2 trade goods; may be fortified and have a garrison; base value of 2K gold monthly.
Cities - population of 2000 plus; at least 2 trade goods; always fortified; base value of 4 to 10 K gold monthly.
In addition, each inhabitation has a classification. This is what type of town or city the location is primarily used for. Some basic examples of classes for inhabitations are:
Port-- can construct ships and conduct trade; bonus to IND.
Garrison-- has a major fortress in the inhabitation; bonus to MIL.
Depot-- major supply center; AGR and IND bonus.
Capital-- command over a region; several different bonuses.
There is a variety of other classifications. Each has their own bonuses and benefits. A list of all inhabitations and current values and other information is at The Registry at the website.
Players can upgrade an inhabitation they control to the next level ( a village to a town; a town to a city ) when the towns population reaches the right size with enough gold and manpower invested in the inhabitation. This process may take some time, and will cost a variable amount, depending on conditions and a variety of other variables.
From time to time, new villages will be able to be built at locations in the players kingdoms under the right conditions. These conditions depend on nearby fortresses and inhabitations, the kingdoms aspects and growth variables, and a couple other things. The player will be notified when a new village may be built, and will have the option of investing money and manpower into constructing it.
